ADD/ADHD

ADD and ADHD are not just learning problems
When you go to any of your favorite stores – Target or Costco or Wal-Mart – have you noticed how many products you buy that were made in China? When you buy a car, do you hesitate to choose a Japanese car over a US-made model? And where have so many information technology opportunities gone? They went to India. Ten years ago, "outsourcing" may not have been a common word but it has become a fact of life now and for the future. Our world becomes smaller and smaller. As your son or daughter grows up, just being 'smart' may not be enough. Your children will face global competition from the entire world as they choose their careers and make their lives. They must be knowledgeable and competitive to succeed, so the ability to study well and learn is more than just a medical condition. It will determine how well your child can survive, and what kind of life your child will have.

There is a new classification of ADD and ADHD
Based on the mechanism of origin and causes of ADD/ADHD, instead of on symptoms, this concentration disorder can be categorized into two types: primary and secondary. Primary type originates with emotional trauma and its subconscious neurological effects. This type of patient definitely needs psychological or psychiatric help. But at least 90% of those with ADD/ADHD belong to the secondary type, which is caused by neurotransmitter dysfunction or by neurophysiologic dysfunction.

Neurotransmitter Dysfunction – Is it ADD/ADHD, or the brain's response to allergens?

  • A neurotransmitter is a chemical the body uses for communication between nerve cells. Most neurotransmitters are produced in the abdomen, not by the brain.

As an example, after eating turkey your body will produce serotonin, which is the neurotransmitter that many anti-depressant drugs try to emulate. It is very common to hear of someone enjoying a fine Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, and afterward becoming extremely sleepy, lightheaded, and lethargic. Often this can be related to an individual's allergic response, which can cause headache, mental fogginess, dizziness, and sometimes create upper respiratory difficulties.
Allergic reaction may not only cause the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory to swell (edema) and manifest as congestion, runny nose, sniffles, or a cough, allergic reaction can also cause edema in the mucous membranes of your digestive system resulting in stomach cramps, indigestion, or diarrhea. So will allergic reactions also affect mucous membranes in the brain? Of course! And you can imagine the problems that may be created when the mucous membrane surrounding the brain becomes swollen.
You might be surprised to find that your child may have sensitivity or allergy to:
    • Certain foods, beverages, vitamins, minerals, etc.
    • Food additives, coloring, flavoring, etc.
    • Environmental chemicals such as formaldehyde, pesticides, heavy metals, etc.
    • Certain fabrics or cloth
    • Drugs, vaccines, etc.
    • Other environmental allergens such as pets, insects, pollen, plants, mold

Neurophysiologic Dysfunction
Clinical medical research finds that most ADD/ADHD has some brain integration dysfunction.

  • The cerebellar-vestibular system includes the inner ear function. It not only controls an individual's balance and coordination of movement, but also acts like a guided missile's computer system – guiding the eyes, hands, and various mental and physical functions in space and time. Children who exhibit inappropriate behavior often lack an understanding of the concept of time and space.
  • The cerebral-cerebellar connection contributes to skill in calculation, cognition, and language skills.
  • The visual-vestibular system controls smooth tracking of eye movement when an individual reads. It this system has difficulty, children do not read well, or may feel very fatigued after reading.
  • Dominant and non-dominant brain division. The brain is composed of two halves, one half being dominant. In many ADD/ADHD children, the non-dominant half of the brain does not receive adequate sensory input resulting in poor development of that brain half.

HOW CA CLINIC CAN HELP IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.
•  Test for and find any hidden allergies to eliminate the allergic reaction. The Clinic has treated more than a thousand people with a variety of allergic difficulties using non-invasive NAET Technique.

•  Heavy metal detoxification.

•  Eyelights light therapy.

•  Color and sound therapy.

•  Cranial adjustment. The skull is comprised of 22 bones which, if misaligned, affect the functioning of the brain and sensory organs.

•  Chiropractic adjustment.

•  Acupuncture treatments – both traditional needle, as well as non-needle.

•  Kinesiology treatment with Neural Organization Technique.

•  Sensory integration training.

Chi
Chi (pronounced “chee”) is an energy referred to as the ‘life force’ or ‘vital force’ which is present in all living creatures. Chi circulates through 14 major meridians, or energy channels, to all parts of the body. If the flow of Chi is impeded for any reason – by blockage, imbalance, or misdirection – the body’s health weakens in response to the shortage of vital energy.
